[Jan 23, 19:00 CEST] Zoom: Minimal Modeling of Twitter.com, without database
I’d like to do a two-hour long public Zoom session called “Minimal Modeling of Twitter.com, without database”.
I’m going to show how to create a minimal model of Twitter, having no access to its database, just by observing https://twitter.com/ itself.

Of course, we only model the parts that we have access to. There are huge parts of Twitter.com that are not available to us, such as advertising UI, content policy moderation tools, etc. But that’s fine: the user-visible part would be more than enough for an hour.
The purpose of this exercise is to show that Minimal Modeling can be a useful tool for modeling any service, decoupled from the physical database schema and technical details of a highly scalable data processing system.

The registration requires a Zoom account. If this is a problem drop me an email and I’ll add you to the list.

(in your timezone: https://app.tryvirtually.com/timezone?date=1674496800000).
We’ll have two hours. First hour: creating a structured Notion page with the minimal model, from scratch. The page will be publicly available later. As a result we’ll have something like the Mokum minimal model: https://www.notion.so/mokumplace/Case-study-Mokum-f2001712e8424acc9ed9b3d97e482a53.
Second hour: database modeling discussion. The first hour will be recorded and later shared. The second hour is online-only, no recording :)
